KLOSTER ZINNA - ZINNA ABBEY
Cistercian abbey founded in 1170 in stone, but the abbey buildings are in Gothic red brick.
Another of Brandenburg's great Cistercian abbeys! Located 8 km from Jüterbog and reachable by bus from Jüterbog, Zinna Abbey was founded in 1170, the year in which Albrecht the Bear, the conqueror of the Marche, died. It prospered in the following centuries, before being secularized in 1553. Zinna bears witness to an architectural transition: the church is made of stone (middle Germany), while the abbey buildings are a pearl of Gothic architecture in red brick (north).
