WISMAR OLD PORT
A lively site where you can soak up the crowds over a herring brötchen, with a few Baumhaus buildings.
It's the perfect place to really take in the city's Hanseatic air. It has partly lost its historic character, but a few buildings such as the Baumhaus (18th century), the Brauhaus am Lohberg (1452), where you can enjoy a good beer, or the 2 Swedish heads - actually Baroque Hercules heads - still bear witness to this. And don't miss the Wassertor, one of the city's last five gates. Above all, it's the liveliest place in town, where you can soak up the crowds, enjoy the bustle and eat a herring roll.
