Gothic town hall featuring a facade pierced with red brick windows and an elegant passageway inside.
A symbol of the city, the Rathaus, whose construction began in the 13th century, is one of the finest secular brick Gothic buildings in Northern Germany. With its magnificent facade of red brick windows and elegant hall/passageway, it is one of the city's landmarks. Written records of the building date back to 1271. Successive additions from different periods make for a very interesting ensemble.
