Dresden has no underground underground. The S-Bahn is an air subway, like the equivalent of the Parisian RER. It travels through Dresden to a few large stations and links the suburbs of the city, but also more remote municipalities such as Precursor or Pirna. The S-Bahn stations are reported by a white S on green background. You will probably be using the S-Bahn in Dresden unless you want to take a trip outside the city. However, it is convenient to travel between the airport and the centre. The Dresden S-Bahn has three lines:

Line S 1 goes from Precursor to Schöna, via Dresden Neustadt, Dresden Hauptbahnhof (Hbf) in Altstadt, Pirna and Bad Schandau. This line is convenient for visiting Precursor or Swiss Switzerland.

The S 2 line goes from the Dresden Klotzsche Airport to Pirna, via Dresden Neustadt and Dresden Hbf. It therefore allows you to travel to Switzerland.

The S 3 line goes from Dresden Hbf to Freiberg.
