The building was built between 1911 and 1913 according to the plans of Dresden's Consulting Architect Hans Hans Erlwein, where, in the th century, the Cabanes were built to shelter the Ouvriers shipyard workers. The work of the Catholic Church was led by the Italian Gaetano Chiaveri; also, the residents of Dresden quickly called these huts «the Italian hamlet». The two-storey building now there also bears this nickname. It has been home to a restaurant since the mid th century.
