JÄGERHOF - HUNTING LODGE
This building is often ignored in Dresden's tourist tours. Yet its towers to the oblique windows and its Renaissance look are intriguing. This is the former hunting lodge of the Prince elector Auguste, built in 1568 on the north shore of the Elbe, formerly called «Altendresden» and facing «Dresden», the fortified city, which did not have enough space to host such a building. The building was then surrounded by a large architectural ensemble dedicated to hunting. In the th century, the Jägerhof lost its hunting flag for the castles of Moritzburg and Hubertusburg. Today, it is one of the few buildings before the Baroque era in the Saxon capital. It houses the Musée des arts popular Saxons (Museum für Sšchsische Volkskunst) since 1913.
