Neustadt Station is the second largest railway station in the city of Dresden. It is an important historical landmark in the industrial history of Saxony and Germany: inaugurated in 1847, it replaced Leipziger Bahnhof (Leipzig station), terminus of the Dresden-Leipzig line, Germany's first railway line. The entrance hall of sandstone is particularly remarkable with its two impressive portals. Its ceiling, 17 metres high, is slightly arched and decorated with arms from the Kingdom of Saxony.
