SOCIETAETSTHEATER
This charming Baroque theatre, the oldest bourgeois theatre in the city, was founded in 1776. He served as a profane theatre, as during the Hoftheater, the Theatre of the Court. Built in 1740, it is surrounded by a lovely baroque garden with a pavilion, the Thomaes pavilion. Dissolved in 1832, the theatre company lives its stage transformed into an apartment, then in a workshop where craftsmen worked metal at the beginning of the th century, before being converted into a photographic shop and even as a subsidiary of the Neustadt post! Rediscovered in 1979, it was recorded in the heritage list of the GDR in 1985. However, its renovation could only begin in 1996, thanks to funding from the Dresdner Bank. The favourite theatre of the Dresdois returned to life in 1999 and has since, as in the th century, one of the most lively places of spectacle in the Saxone capital. You can also walk in the garden and enjoy a glass of wine on the terrace of its restaurant. A particularly pleasant atmosphere on summer evenings.
