SCHLOSS PILLNITZ - PILLNITZ CASTLE
Today in Dresden, this magnificent castle has an inimitable location below the city, directly on the Elbe and at the foot of the Dresden wine-growing hills (once again developed by Augustus the Strong) which offer a charming landscape. The castle was also built by the august Elector of Saxony in 1702 as an "Indian palace between Elba and the hills", in accordance with a "total landscape design". The complex includes a superb Baroque park, in which the Wasserpalais, the Neues Palais and some outbuildings are located. A museum allows you to visit the chapel, the kitchens and the dome room, which allows you to relive the history of Pillnitz Castle. If you have time, we strongly recommend that you spend two hours on this amazing project. In addition, you can choose to go for a walk through the surrounding wine-growing hills, it is a classic for the Germans.
