NEUSTÄDTER MARKTHALLE - NEUSTADT COVERED MARKET
At the end of the 1893 th century, the halls replaced the weekly markets introduced in Dresden in. This large covered market, still active today, was built in 1899 instead of an infantry barracks. At its opening, it had 299 stands spread over 1 158 m 2. In 1945, part of the market was destroyed by bombs. The market was reopened in 1949 under Communist rule on a surface of 1 000 m 2. From 1997 to 2000, it was deeply restored. Today, it's a place of life where one can, of course, shop but also lunch on the thumb, bring its laundry shirts, make sport in a newly designed gym, or stroll through the beautifully renovated architecture of these halls.
