HANS KÖRNIG MUSEUM - HANS KÖRNIG MUSEUM
Painter and engraver Hans Körnig (1905-1989) was wrongly unknown to the general public. However, the exhibitions they organized under the roofs of his workshop were a true legend for the art scene of the 1950 s in Dresden. His energetic, modern gesture captures the soul of his models with great passion on bright colours, or in engravings with a strong humour, which are reminiscent of today's graphic novels. In 1961, Körnig travelled illegally with his family in Western Europe. He will never be able to return to his home, the Berlin Wall was built by the GDR without warning. " Stuck "in West Germany, Körnig illustrated many novels - striking planks for Kafka Castle are to be seen in this museum. After a single and last trip to Dresden in 1988, the painter committed suicide in 1989. The little museum Hans Körnig, housed in the old artist's studio and hidden in a courtyard in the baroque district, is a real nugget.
