PORZELLANSAMMLUNG - PORCELAIN COLLECTION
The constituent prince Frédéric Auguste II (1670-1733) had contracted what he was calling in French for porcelain. He devoted a huge part of his fortune, which was not the greatest princely fortune of Baroque Europe, to the development of a secret to the manufacture of "white gold", a technique held up to then by China alone. Its collection includes many parts of the Far East and exceptional works made by its own factory in Dresden. Vases, plates, boxes, but also miniature in exotic or domestic animals, elegant figures… these are nowadays more than 20 000 pieces of porcelain which are exposed to the Zwinger castle, in a baroque decor bordered by high windows, through which the view over the baroque courtyard is enchanting.
