VERKEHRSMUSEUM - TRANSPORT MUSEUM
Restaurant cars from the Belle Epoque, cars of the future, sailing models, Lufthansa military aircraft… It is in the heart of the Altstadt, the Transport museum (Verkehrsmuseum), that you can discover German transport engineering. In its state-of-the-art and playful setting, the museum is divided into four sections: navigation, air transport, rail transport and car transport. Both small and old people will be able to climb in a real steam locomotive or discover the operation of the piston engine. Focusing mainly on German inventions, the museum has, among other things, a beautiful collection of cars, bicycles and scooters from Eastern Germany and also boasts the Saxonia, Germany's first steam locomotive, built in 1838. A children's club, the Kid's club, allows toddlers to operate electric trains, try to traffic on plastic cars and even simulate a helicopter flight!
