In the 1990 s, many houses in the Neustadt, the heart of the alternative Scene of Dresden, were renovated. In 1997, the five internal courses between number 25 of the Görlitzer Strasse (listed building) and Alaunstrasse were treated somewhat differently: they are not only restored, but artists are invited to decorate them in a fantaisiste fashion. Nowadays, the Kunsthof is a forced passage from any visit to Dresden. These bohemian-style courses, planted with ginkgos, houses cafés, artists'workshops and charming restaurants.
