BAROCKVIERTEL - BAROQUE QUARTER
A walk around the Königstrasse, the Obergraben and the Rähnitzgasse allows you to discover the discreet and refined charms of the Barockviertel, with its galleries, sales, shops and pavées courses hosting workshops. The quarter reformed in the th century by Auguste le Fort on the ashes of the ancient Altendresden, the bourgeois city of Dresden separated by the Elbe of the Royal City. The constituent prince brought in large streets such as Königstrasse, extending the Églie Églie to meet the harmonious proportions of his new urban plan. The Barockviertel has long been the heart of Dresden's bourgeois life and its theatre (Societaetstheater, see section), its covered market (Neustädter Markthalle, see heading) as its craftsmen's workshops testify. The passages covered between the baroque houses of numbers 9 and 19 of the Hauptstrasse are now dedicated to charming local crafts shops, antiques and refined fashion.
