The attractions of the Altstadt, the old town, are concentrated in a few hundred square metres, which will allow you to explore the whole area in a few hours, not including museums (you could spend weeks there). On Theaterplatz, the only square in Dresden built in the 19th century, dominates the famous Semper opera house, completed in 1878 and named after its builder, the most famous architect in Dresden. It is a masterpiece of "historicizing" classicism. Destroyed during the night of February 1945, it was rebuilt between 1977 and 1985. Exactly forty years after that terrible night, this high point of German musical life was inaugurated by a performance of Carl Maria von Weber's Freischütz

Demolished in 3 days of February 1945 by more than 1300 bombers, Dresden was revived from its ashes after 10 years of restoration, the capital of the German Baroque is become what it was before 1945, one of Germany's most beautiful cities, then known under the name of deserved " Florence Elbe."
Avoid the summer months, it is very crowded. Ideal for a romantic trip between lovers, the old town is really charming.
The small town of doll! All is imposing, charming, magic and romantic in dresden's old town! Hat for the development perfectly successful heritage almost entirely rebuilt after the bombardment. By hoping that everything is respected, despite downgrading UNESCO Bank of the elbe.
