MEISSEN CATHEDRAL
Gothic cathedral built in 1260, with a luminous, harmonious interior featuring many valuable works of art.
From 1260 onwards, it is one of the purest Gothic Gothic constructions. It contains many valuable works of value. This cathedral, built in sandstone, has the black colour characteristic of this stone outside; But the interior of the church is bright and formidably harmonious. A visit to the Dom is like a treasure hunt: high chapels, low doors behind which sculptures hide, hidden in secret altars, winding staircases… At the entrance to the chapel, the recumbent shall be of great finesse; they were sketched by Albrecht Dürer and Lucas Cranach. The chapel opens onto the church by a portal crowned with angels. The anonymous altarpiece, probably due to a student in Cranach, dates back to 1526. The cloister is very beautiful, and the allée and the Gothic choir, perfectly proportional, are breathtaking and clean. The excellent acoustics of the cathedral give rise to numerous musical events throughout the year.
