BURG KRIEBSTEIN - CASTLE KRIEBSTEIN
Kriebstein's number one curiosity is none other than its fortress, its fabulous medieval castle, straight out of a tale by Perrault or Grimm, built in the 14th century in the late Gothic style. This enchanting place is located in the countryside, at the crossroads between Chemnitz, Leipzig and Dresden, in a wooded area overlooking a vast artificial lake. From its rocky peak, it stands on its scale to the course of the Zschopau River. A stopover in this castle, the most beautiful in Saxony, is said to be the most beautiful in the country, will take you to discover its ramparts, its monumental residential tower 45 metres high, with its period furniture, its cellar and its attic. It will also take you to its chapel, whose superb wall paintings date back to 1410, and the estate's lavish reception rooms, which retrace the history of the site from Hugolds von Schleinitz to the Von Arnim family, owners of the site until 1945, are also impressive. They are also regularly made available to the public and companies at seminars, family gatherings and, in particular, at weddings.
