There have been reports of a wine cellar on the site since 1438. The site is legendary! Between 1765 and 1768, as a student in Leipzig, the young Goethe spent many evenings here. He was inspired by frescoes depicting the legendary magician and cosmologist Faust, painted in 1638. Two restaurants are located side by side in the same space: a brasserie and a gourmet restaurant. Both offer a wide choice of dishes, from traditional Saxon and German cuisine to a variety of international influences. Reasonable prices and a good wine list.

There are two restaurants at this place. Gourmet, a brasserie. We chose this last menu. Wide range of dishes at reasonable price and wines by the glass especially. Good.
