FEINKOST
A special place dear to the identity of the people of the Südvorstadt and Leipzig in general. Feinkost, which in German means "delicatessen", is a complex above all a militant one, committed to the preservation of East German architecture. It is a surprising place, with its offbeat daily activity, its discotheque, its outdoor cinema screenings in summer, its monthly flea market, but also its stalls dedicated to street food. Feinkost is located in a former cannery. It has become a popular venue for cultural events for local alternative youth. An artistic place too, with its cohort of exhibitions, its craftsmen, and its demanding shops; a total of about ten shops are located there. All are original, unique or part of committed channels:
Mrs Hippie (read: Mississippi) offers original and colourful textile items (clothing, decorative fabrics, household linen).
Fussgänger (pedestrian) is a real shoemaker like no one else: he makes custom-made shoes.
Goldstein & Co is a design, interior decoration and lighting store
Capito is a gaming store.
Serifee is a children's bookstore.
