MORITZBASTEI

A large leisure and cultural complex resulting from student culture, the Moritzbastei houses a café-restaurant (Le Barbakane), concert halls, but also a discotheque that is full during the university year, due to its direct proximity to the university... Its decoration is surprising. It originates in a picturesque 400-year-old setting, in the underground and vaulted rooms of this former bastion, one of the last remains of the city's ramparts. This place, now emblematic of festive Leipzig, does not deny its history and continues, through a foundation that campaigns for its preservation, to organize guided tours, especially on Saturdays, at 11am or 2pm.
