FESTIVAL BACH
Every year for ten days, the Bach Festival (Bachfest) pays tribute to the famous German musician, the one who conducted the Thomaskirche choir and organ, and who incidentally composed all his greatest works (La Toccata, Ave Maria, the Brandenburg Concertos, among others) in the frenzy of Leipzig. Many concerts, free or paid, are played during the Festival, by the best orchestras of the moment and in various places in the city: on the market square for example, in the Thomaskirche of course also, but also in the Nikolaikirche. Sometimes even in unexpected places, such as when concert performers perform in the lobby of the central station. The performers adapt to the scenery and give their best to sublimate the baroque masterpieces written by the composer. To attend a paid performance, it is advisable to book your place often very far in advance.
