Housed in a magnificent Art Nouveau villa, this institution of Plagwitz was there before all the others. It is one of the city's major cultural centres. Extremely active, Schaubühne is a cinema; it welcomes theatres, concerts, festivals of all kinds. Its coffee, where one can also eat a tip, is also popular and it is one of the most pleasant in the neighborhood. With its huge volumes, the refinement of its architecture, its «culture» spirit, it is a place to go (even its coffee) even if you don't speak German. Present before Born, the Schaubühne is now one of the pillars of the city's artistic scene, 7 th art, music and live shows.
