WAVE GOTIK TREFFEN
Go there and contact
Since 1992, Leipzig at Pentecost has become a corridor of extraordinary parades: those of members of the Gothic movement from all over the world, who have come to unveil their most beautiful costumes and expose the Gothic way of life in the city's streets. Cars dressed in coffins, skulls, baroque costumes, men kept on a leash by their wives, undertakers, bodies covered with stigmas... The list of delusions is long. The Gothic imagination, simply mimicked but also sometimes lived from A to Z by the most extremist, parades through the streets (because it is a real parade) and parks in front of the main venues of the festival: the Moritzbastei, place of many concerts and a medieval market, or the Agra-Gelände in Markkleeberg, where an outdoor scene is held where some of the 20,000 festival-goers camp. The different concert venues, depending on the year, are the Felsenkeller bar, the Werk II cultural centre and the Schauspielhaus theatre. The best bands of the genre, darkwave, noise, gothic punk, neofolk, neomedieval, metal gothic, EBM or industrial, follow one another live during the four days of this Wave Gotik Treffen.
