Book your first Sunday in May in advance! The Tacot Prize is an unmissable event in the south of Leipzig. A soapbox race like there are not many more, thanks to the naTo, the famous cinema and cultural centre of the Südvorstadt. Every year, it organizes this crazy competition on the only "mountain" in Leipzig (the Fockeberg, at an altitude of 153 metres). The winner, as you may have guessed, wins the Tacot Prize, you can't make that up! A playful and hilarious demonstration, both original and imbued with the libertarian spirit of the southern districts, the Seifenkistenrennen sees its participants boarding four-wheeled vehicles, often elegant but improbable, built by them for months on end. On the course, pushed by their teammates, the pilots first climbed the Fockeberg as best they could, before making open tomb descents from the summit. This cheerful bazaar is commented micro screaming by a parodic sports presenter. More than 10,000 spectators make the trip "up there" on the mountain every year to see these crazy trays cross the finish line.
