WASSERFEST - FÊTE DE L'EAU

A highlight of the Leipzig summer, a weekend in mid-August, during which the city takes advantage of the sunny days to highlight its canals and rivers. From the Elsterflutbett which crosses the Clara-Zetkin-Park to the Weisse Elster which separates Plagwitz from Schleussig, via the Karl-Heine-Kanal, there are water parades, water games, thematic challenges of all kinds, such as boat building or boat races. A triathlon event is also organized, as well as a kayak and canoe race at the Kanupark in Markkleeberg. More than 100,000 spectators are thrilled in unison during this Wasserfest.
