LEIPZIGER BUCHMESSE - FOIRE DU LIVRE
The Leipziger Buchmesse is the largest trade fair in the Messestadt. Every year in mid-March, it welcomes between 270,000 and 290,000 visitors to its state-of-the-art exhibition centre, located less than 20 minutes by car or S-Bahn from the city centre. This cultural event has become an essential event. It has a particularly strong dimension because Leipzig has always been recognised as Germany's book and publishing city, even though Frankfurt am Main had taken this status away from it during the Cold War. Since reunification, Leipzig has regained all the literary inspiration it once had. She naturally returned to her role as a literary scout. His Buchmesse is now a gathering that counts. More than just a show, it is a true show dedicated to the written word, a festival that brings together several thousand international publishers, authors and novelists each spring, through a dense and eclectic programme. For three days, the city keeps its pulse on the rhythm of the pages and volumes, on the agenda of readings, prize awards, conferences and workshops for adults and children organised during the Fair. Coming to the Saxon metropolis on the occasion of this major event also means participating in the Leipzig liest (Leipzig reads) festival, which has been associated with it for several years and is even more popular.
