It's a crazy experience that awaits you if you dare to be adventurous. Have you always wanted to drive an old Trabant, one of the two cars (with the Wartburg) that were allowed under the GDR regime? With Trabi Erleben, an association coordinated by a few passionate Saxons, you have the opportunity to make your dream come true. After an accelerated driving course in a car park at the gates of the historic centre, it's up to you! You will rediscover the joys of the starter, you will become familiar with the handling of the "more than manual" gearbox, located in the centre of the dashboard. You will discover the joy of reversing when you almost graze the tram... You will brake when approaching a light and it will sometimes seem long between the time you press the pedal and the desired reaction: no panic, it's normal. Welcome to an authentic Trabant! Inside, yes, we're tight as sardines, so beware of those with long legs. Indeed, in terms of wheelbase and roof guard, the "Trabi" does not look like a lace. On the engine side, however, the sensations are guaranteed, especially the noise level! Don't expect to exceed 70 km/h with this improved moped mechanics, but be sure that pedestrians will hear you coming from far away, even in slow motion. Finally, in terms of CO2 emissions, it's a festival for the eyes and nostrils: it smokes a lot, it smokes black, and it smells good pollution, but it doesn't matter when you laugh, when you spend a few unforgettable hours on board with friends or family. Especially since this means of transport, unusual for tourists, is a clearly ideal, and probably even the best, way to travel through Leipzig from north to south and east to west, to contemplate its monuments and its districts in total immersion with the traffic, from an amazing angle, almost glued to the asphalt. The whole city is marching before our eyes on a senator's train. Whether you choose a guided tour or a car rental, you can be sure that you will quickly get a taste for the Trabant entrusted to you by Karen, René and the other Trabi Erleben figures.
