PETERSKIRCHE - SAINT STONE CHURCH
The Peterskirche, a little off the Karl-Liebknecht-Strasse in an intimate square with beautiful Belle Epoque facades, is one of the most beautiful churches in Leipzig. All built of brown stone, with its arrows, rosettes, ornaments, it gives an incredible change. For some would believe in a flamboyant Gothic church.... While, indeed, the neo-Gothic church of Saint Peter was in fact inaugurated in 1886! The imitation of Gothic is perfect; there is more to it than that, because the church best embodies the idea that Gothic literature has of a church. While its interior certainly has less charisma, its flamboyant silhouette sets the tone for the whole district, so that Schletterplatz, on which it is based, has become one of the most popular places in the city to look for accommodation.
