CITY HOCHHAUS LEIPZIG
Leipzig's "skyscraper" is also his icon, his mascot. And in fact, we see it, tens of kilometres away, dominate the plain that surrounds the agglomeration. 142 metres high, consisting of 29 floors, the Leipzig Tower has many different nicknames, more or less sober and flattering (Uni-Turm (university tower), Weisheitszahn (wisdom tooth), Steiler Zahn (right tooth), or MDR-Turm... ). It is the second tallest tower in the former East Germany after the Alexanderplatz television tower, the famous Fernsehturm in Berlin. The City Hochhaus was completely remodelled between 1999 and 2002, which still gives it a modern appearance today. It mainly hosts offices belonging to the regional media group MDR or the local tourist office. For day visitors, it is above all an incredible opportunity to overlook the city from the top of its roof terrace. The summit is easily accessible thanks to the vast and powerful elevator that climbs at high speed to the 29th floor. Only a few steps remain to climb before you find yourself facing the lights of the Saxon metropolis. An amazing view of Leipzig and its wide surroundings awaits you. A landscape that is obviously the delight of photographers and videographers. Underneath this platform is the excellent Panorama Tower Leipzig restaurant.
