LEIPZIG'S NEW CITY HALL
A majestic 10,000-square-meter town hall erected in 1905, featuring 600 rooms and a 114-meter-high tower.
With its gigantic dimensions, the new city hall is one of the representatives of Leipzig's "monumental maximalism". Built in 1905 by the burgeoning merchant bourgeoisie, it houses the headquarters of the local municipality. The neo-medieval stone castle was designed by German architect Hugo Licht. It covers an area of 10,000m2 and contains some 600 rooms. Its tower rises to a height of 114 metres. You can enter to admire the hall and staircases.
