LEIPZIG HISTORY MUSEUM
The Leipzig History Museum, Das Stadtgeschichtliches Museum in German, is a major tourist attraction. From the Middle Ages to the present day, the history of the Saxon metropolis is retraced, commented on and highlighted through exhibitions related to a wide variety of themes: daily life, clothing according to the times, crafts, music, theatre, military objects, sports and numismatics. This museum is unusual in that it actually encompasses several cultural sites, spread over different parts of the city. The main one is located in Haus Böttchergäßchen. It includes the library and photo library area, but also the Children's Museum (Kindermuseum). Near this house, the public can continue their visit through the ceremonial rooms of the Altes Rathaus to admire the exhibition and the permanent collections. The Leipzig History Museum has several other satellites. It thus extends its ramifications to the 1813 Forum of the Völkerschlachtdenkmal, via the Alte Börse, the Zum Arabischen Coffee Baum Museum and the Maison de Schiller.
