EGYPTIAN MUSEUM OF THE UNIVERSITY OF LEIPZIG
Unique museum exhibiting a collection of a professor's archaeological finds, including manuscripts, works of art...
This unique museum is located in the Kroch-Hochhaus, overlooking Augustusplatz. His particularity lies in the fact that he presents to the general public the archeological collection of Professor Georg Steindorff, who was a researcher at the University of Leipzig in the nineteenth century. This permanent exhibition traces the treasures that the latter reported from its expeditions: manuscripts, masks, works of art, including an impressive third millennium statue B.C., but also handicrafts dated from ancient Egypt. Egyptology enthusiasts will, of course, enjoy traveling through the alleys of this university museum, which brings together some 7,000 objects.
