ROSENTAL - VALLEY OF ROSES
Located north of the city centre, between the Waldstrassenviertel and Gohlis, on the Parthe river which is a tributary of the Elster, the Rosental ("Valley of the Roses") is the landscape extension of the Auenwald in the north of the city, a mirror of the Clara-Zetkin-Park in a way. It is a 118-hectare park, as pleasant as it is elegant, well maintained, with well-kept lawns. In its heart, it shelters a pretty pond. A bucolic landscape that today makes it one of the favourite places for Leipzig residents to go out. In summer, in particular, you can relax for long hours, or meet up for a picnic, to play or listen to music, to play sports or even to fly a kite. A green area dedicated to relaxation and romance, Le Rosental also enjoys a sumptuous environment. It is bordered on both sides by 1900 buildings, all more sumptuous than the other. Finally, in the northwest of the park, do not hesitate to head towards the high wooden observation tower, where you can climb up to enjoy a totally unobstructed view of the city.
