FOCKEBERG
A hill of rubble that propels Leipzig's altitude to 153 metres above ground level. Presented in this way, the painting does not really make you dream! And yet, the famous Fockeberg came out of the ground in 1947, formed by the rubble of the destruction of the Second World War. Fortunately, nature has now regained its rights on this high point, which enjoys a panoramic view of the city, especially in winter. Fockeberg also offers a dream playground for the inhabitants of the Südvorstadt, who come in large numbers to spend their summer evenings on the circular plateau that marks its summit. Finally, this small mountain is the scene of events as zany as they are popular, such as the Tacot Prize, the famous soapbox race organized here every spring.
