RUNDLING
The Rundling is a rather strange urban complex, a precursor to cities and later large complexes. Built at the turn of the 1920s and 1930s, designed in concentric circles (hence its name, small circle) with three crowns and flat concrete bars, it is one of the rare witnesses to the concept of New Objectivity. This cultural movement combined the techniques of expressionism with the social consciousness of the time, with the aim of denouncing injustices. The Rundling consists of 624 apartments, available in 11 models of different sizes. The notion of comfort of life prevails in each of them. Thus, for example, natural light and the exposure of the dwellings to the south are favoured. According to its architect Winfried Nerdinger, the Rundling was to be the ideal of the Weimar Republic: a modern, urban and friendly habitat, airy and giving pride of place to green spaces. Each circle of building bars is separated by a ring made of tree-lined paths and lawns.
