BACH MUSEUM
This remarkable Leipzig museum dedicated to the German Baroque master was inaugurated in 2010 to celebrate his birthday.
The museum dedicated to the master of German Baroque, Johann Sebastian Bach, is known throughout the world. It was inaugurated in its current form in 2010, to celebrate the 325th anniversary of the composer's birth. This fascinating cave is a gold mine for any music lover, a museum of remarkable quality that evolves in the "Bosehaus", the residence where the Bose family, very close to Bach, lived in the past and which Bach used to frequent assiduously. The Bose family building was also chosen by the museum's creators because it has retained its original appearance. It also stands only a few steps from the Thomaskirche church, where the composer wrote most of his work. It should be noted that the Bach Museum is at the forefront of contemporary concepts in terms of the conservation of musical documents, archiving and musical museology. Extremely rich in sources, interactive as you wish, it takes you into the world of Bach through dozens of jukebox stations from which you can listen to exceptional recordings. He also guides you through panels explaining his life and work, supported by original manuscripts. Apart from the architectural interest of the building, the Bach-Museum is therefore able to satisfy both those who are looking for a synthetic presentation of Bach's life and music and those who want to explore in detail the destiny of this extraordinary character. The latter, undoubtedly, finds in this setting material for a comparative approach to documents. Music stations are extremely rich in recordings. Some even offer to listen to several different interpretations of the same piece. The museum is complemented by an astonishing archive space, which is proving to be an inexhaustible resource for all researchers interested in Bach. The place houses a very pleasant coffee shop. You can also enjoy the views of the Thomaskirchhof, one of the most beautiful squares in the old town.
