KUNSTMUSEUM KLOSTER UNSER LIEBEN FRAUEN - CONVENT / ART MUSEUM
Founded in the 11th century, then redesigned in 1129 by the Order of the Premonstratensians, it is one of the most significant Romanesque complexes in Germany. Austere, the stone is queen. Vault, capitals, crypt, fortified towers... Visiting the church and the splendid cloister after the cathedral can be a good opportunity to compare Gothic and Romanesque. The convent was transformed during the communist era into a museum of contemporary art (!); this museum is not uninteresting and also has a collection of historical sculptures. The mixture of novel and contemporary may seem strange, but the two do not go too badly together. The premises include a tea room.
