A well-located and inexpensive youth hostel close to the Elbe River.

A centrally located, functional and well-kept youth hostel with a view of the port. It has a large terrace, which is very pleasant in summer, a pool table, a ping-pong table and a giant chess set. The youth hostel is part of the DJH (Deutsches Jugendherbergswerk) network, for which you have to be a member or become one. For those under 26 years of age, the annual membership fee is €7 and applies to a network of over 430 youth hostels in Germany.

Bereits häufiger waren wir in Jugendherbergen quer durch Deutschland zu Gast. Diesmal waren wir leider recht enttäuscht. Uns fehlte die Freundlichkeit und Herzlichkeit einer Jugendherberge. Frühstück war sehr lieblos und einfach gemacht. Abendessen hat gut geschmeckt, allerdings haben wir noch nirgends erlebt, dass wir für eine zweite Portion betteln mussten. Zimmer war ok. Die Lage ist definitiv top und ruhig war es nachts auch. Allerdings denken wir für einen erneuten Hamburg Besuch über ein Hotel nach, denn die Preise unterscheiden sich ja kaum noch.
