Pyjama Park is one of our favorite hostels in Hamburg: trendy, designer, comfortable and crazy friendly.
Very low dormitory prices and extraordinary value for money for the area: this trendy, jungle-themed youth hostel is ideal for exploring Sternschanze, the Karolinenviertel and Sankt-Pauli. The design of the dormitories is particularly well thought out: beds with curtains, drawers, tables, towels... The double rooms are also very reasonably priced. One of our favorite youth hostels in Hamburg.

This hostel had more of a 'shared hotel room' feel, vs a social hostel. Not a bad thing per se, but just need to know what you are getting. There is no common area room, so you'll just have to connect with your roommates. The people I shared the room with for 4 nights were all nice. My limited interaction with the staff was positive. The under bed lockers are decent size, if your pack is not one giant one. I had a 30 and 40 liter and they fit fine side by side. I am aware of only one male and one female toilet for the floor, but there might be more. The male toilet was only busy one time I wanted it, so I just used the female, as it was just a one at a time room. A nice feature is that the beds are premade, and towel is included. Bad pillow, but seems to be the norm in my limited Germany hostel experience. Giant and just fluffy, like a bag of cotton balls. The location is not unsafe, but is pretty "international", and heavy with drinking and graffiti. It is close to the train station, so there is quick access to the rest of the city. Hamburg had some pretty spots, but I wouldn't put it on my must visit list, or if so, 2 days is plenty. If you have to be in Hamburg for work or passing through, this place would be a good option for a couple nights.
