HOTEL FRESENA IM DAMMTORPALAIS ^{* * *}

Wir waren für 2 Nächte da, uns hat es sehr gut gefallen.
Man kann fast alles zu Fuß erreichen ( Schanzenviertel, Speicherstadt und Co). Wir wurden herzlichst empfangen und es gab schon morgens vor dem Frühstück ein Pott Kaffee, den man zum rauchen mit runter nehmen konnte.

Sympathisches Hotel in der Nähe zum Bahnhof Dammtor.

Buslinie 5 hält direkt vor Ort und bringt in 5 Minutentakt zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten.

Schöne Zimmer super Frühstück

Das Hotel Fresena ist ein sehr hübsches, fast schon familiär wirkendes Hotel im 3. Stock (soweit ich mich erinnere) des Dammtorpalais unweit der S-Bahn Station Dammtor und des schönsten Parks Hamburgs (Planten un Blomen).
Die Zimmer sind sehr hübsch und sauber, mit einem Hauch nördlichem Charme.

Das Frühstücksbuffet ist kompakt und gut, das Personal freundlich.
Einzig ein wenig zu bekritteln ist die Hellhörigkeit in den Zimmern, weniger zu Nachbarzimmern als raus zum Gang. Das Knarren des Bodens und der Treppen darf nicht stören, alles in allem ist das jedoch nur ein kleines Manko.
Sonst sehr zu empfehlen!

I stayed at Hotel Fresena for 4 days on a vacation trip to Hamburg. It is located close to the centrum of Hamburg, being only one train station away from the Hauptbahnhof while also being walking distance to the train. The hotel has been a mixed bag where the personnel has been exceptional, but the comfort in the room has been suffering.

Pros:
- Very kind and helpful personnel. They go above and beyond to provide the best service and are really kind!
- The breakfast has a wide and tasty selection ranging from fresh bread to yoghurt and cereal. A wide selection of bruit and berries like strawberries and melon was a very welcome addition. There was always coffee and a wide selection of tea availably to choose from at your leisure.
- The hotel is very clean, there was never a feeling of something being dusty.
- The room I was staying at was very spacious. About 3 meters in height and approximately 25-30 square meters of floor space.
- The beds are very comfortable, they have a good size and softness.

Cons:
- The largest negative about my stay has been the warmth and humidity. The room has, to my knowledge, no shape or form of air conditioning. It was uncomfortably hot and humid at almost all time which made sleeping very hard. I feel this is very serious as I have not been able to get a single good night’s sleep.
- The pillows are like tea bags, they don’t provide good comfort and the stuffing just floats around and don’t support your head.
- The bathroom is really small. I am of 190cm in height and the bathroom fits a toilet, sink and shower in an about 2 square meter space. I essentially could only fit standing up and not much else, to use the toilet, I had to squat and rotate as the sink was right above the toilet.
- Furniture is overall very small. Because of my height, it was hard to fit at the breakfast table among other things.

In summary, this is a nice hotel, but there are improvements that can be made to improve comfort. At the moment I feel that functionality has been sacrificed in favor of style at some areas (like the breakfast tables), and that the quality of sleep suffers a lot due to air climate, and in my opinion, my ability to rest for the next day is the most important before all else.
