A good hotel of standing, located at the edge of the downtown canals.
Along the Alsterfleet in a modern building with an ocean liner look, the Steinberger Hotel has 235 beautiful, modern, functional and comfortable rooms: minibar, air conditioning, flat screen, etc. Most of the rooms have a beautiful view of the canals. On the upper floors, there is a fitness room and sauna with a view of Hamburg. The mixture of old canals and very modern business class style gives an interesting atmosphere and makes the Steigenberger a very pleasant place to stay. Special offers online.

I booked a connecting room for my son and on arrival, we were told there were none available. We could only get adjacent rooms.
It went downhill from there...
Despite clearly stated check-in allowed after 1500, the adjacent room was not ready until nearly 1600.
From there, we find that the Hotel WIFI is only really usable IF you have the H-Rewards membership and even then it only provided 35mpbs down (it would intermittently be faster but invariably slow down again as soon as you started using it). The free was barely 4mbps.
A point of fact is that both or our tablets with 4G/LTE and 5G were able to get 60 & 235mbps down respectively
Finally, restaurant is closed on mondays...
Bright spots...
The concierge/bell hops were extremely helpful...
The desk agent went above and beyond providing access to the conference WIFI system that was much better.
Final notes....
For a hotel at this level and cost, high speed WIFI, on site food services, and getting the rooms you booked are a must... especially in the 2nd largest city in Germany.
Der/Die Rezeptionist/innen waren zum Teil nicht sehr freundlich und wirkten schlecht gelaunt, beim Check-In gabs so gut wie keine Informationen.
Die Rechnungsanschrift wurde falsch ausgestellt (obwohl bei der Buchung extra angegeben).
Nach mehreren E-Mail gabs dazu bis jetzt keine Antwort bzw Korrektur. Telefonisch heißt es, ich solle eine E-Mail schreiben.
Am Telefon hieß es dann auch, ihre Anfrage wird sofort bearbeitet, auf welche ich noch heute warte... Schade, denn das Hotel hätte potential.
