LAEISZHALLE
Prior to the opening of the Elbphilharmonie in 2017, the Laeiszhalle was Hamburg's #1 concert hall for classical music.
It is the great classical hall of Hamburg, somewhat dethroned since the opening of the Elbphilarmonie, with which it now operates in tandem. The excellent North German Radio Symphony Orchestra (NDR) and the Hamburger Symphoniker can be heard here. This is complemented by jazz, pop and children's concerts. The neo-baroque Laeiszhalle was founded by the shipowner F. Laeisz and opened in 1949. Laeisz and opened in 1908; the building is beautiful and worth seeing, both from the outside and the inside.
