CHRISTIANSKIRCHE
The Christianskirche is the protestant church in the Ottensen district.
Behind the town hall, in the center of Altona, the main church of the district dates from the 18th century and was rebuilt after the destruction of the Second World War. The church is Protestant-Lutheran and has sober lines. Built in red bricks, its single nave interior is simple and refined. The church owes its name to King Christian VI of Denmark, Ottensen having been under Danish rule at the time of its construction. The romantic poet Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock (1724-1803) is buried in the adjoining cemetery.
