The Neuengamme Museum and Memorial honor the memory of the concentration camp inmates.
Built in December 1938 by the SS in a former tile factory, this labor camp is only a few kilometers from the center of Hamburg. Between 1938 and 1945, 106,000 prisoners from all over occupied Europe were forced to work here. Almost half of them died in Neuengamme. The camp was evacuated in April 1945. The memorial and the museum honor the memory of the victims. Explanations are also available in French.
