SPRINKENHOF
An impressive brick building in Hamburg's Kontorhausviertel.
The Sprinkenhof, built between 1927 and 1943, is an impressive building articulated around three courtyards. This type of building, inspired by the North American model, is a kind of rational building designed to house offices; it was the substance of the centers of American cities such as New York, from the end of the 19th century to the 1930s. In Hamburg and in all the port cities of northern Europe, this architecture, which sought height and efficiency, was very conducive to the development of commercial enterprises and was a great success.
