The Alte Post is an emblematic building of the reconstruction after the fire of 1842.
Erected between 1845 and 1847 to designs by German architect Alexis de Chateauneuf (son of French émigrés), Hamburg's old post office stands proudly amid the luxury boutiques and busy passers-by around Jungfernstieg. With its tower and clock, it resembles an Italian campanile. This architectural project is emblematic of the Nachbrandarchitektur which, after the great fire of 1842, aimed to give Hamburg a new face.

Beau bâtiment qui a été très bien conservé part les marques de vêtement qui se sont implantées à l'intérieur.
