BEATLES-PLATZ
A place in memory of the band that made everyone in Hamburg dance in the 1960s: the Beatles.
This unobtrusive memorial sculpture was erected in 2008 in memory of the cult band of 1960s Sankt-Pauli, on a square that now bears their name: Beatles-Platz. The steel sculpture depicts John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and a hybrid silhouette of a drummer that could represent either Pete Best or Ringo Starr. A little further on, a fifth silhouette pays tribute to the band's original bassist, Stuart Stucliffe. The sculpture shows them on stage, in action, on a large "LP" disk materialized on the floor.
