The Hamburg TV tower is the highest building in the city.
The 279 meter high TV and radio tower is the tallest building in Hamburg. It was built between 1965 and 1968, like many of its counterparts in other German cities. As in Berlin or Düsseldorf, the TV tower is a symbol of the city in its own right and marks its silhouette. It is clearly visible in many places and is a geographical landmark for orientation. Hamburgers call it "Tele-Michel".
