BISMARCK-DENKMAL
The largest of the monuments dedicated to the memory of the iron chancellor Otto von Bismarck.
Leaning on his sword, the iron chancellor Otto von Bismarck (1815-1898) looks out to sea. At 34.3 meters high, this monument to Bismarck is the largest of those erected in memory of the Prussian chancellor. The granite statue alone is 14.8 meters high. It was built by the architect Johann Emil Schaudt and the Berlin sculptor Hugo Lederer, on the initiative of the banker Max von Schinckel, between 1901 and 1906. Its restoration since 2020, valued at nearly 9 million euros, has caused many people in Hamburg to cringe
